In Conversation With Judith Rossell (Video)

Judith Rossell is the multi-award-winning illustrator of over eighty books, and author of fifteen, including the bestselling Stella Montgomery series. Her work has been published internationally, and translated into more than 20 languages. Her latest book, the Midwatch Institute for Girls, won the 2025 BookPeople Kids’ Reading Guide Children’s Book of the Year⁠, was shortlisted for the ABIA Book of the Year for Younger Children, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and the Aurealis Awards. Judith joined Illustrators Australia to discuss the amazing variety of work in her wide-ranging career - and to show us how to construct a really good maze.
